Plant pests can be divided into several different categories;
1- Some wild animals
2- Insects that feed on leaves such as snails and grasshoppers
3- Microscopic insects that we cannot see with the naked eye such as spider mites (red spiders), thrips, russet mites.
4- Mold, bacteria and other microorganisms
The smaller the size of the pests, the more difficult it will be to prevent them from entering your garden. For example, you can keep a wild deer that can damage the crops in your garden away from your garden with a simple fence. We will classify plant pest prevention solutions that we can handle with simple methods such as fences without damaging the deer, the rest of nature and the plants in your garden as non-medicinal solutions.
For plant pests the size of snails and grasshoppers, you can cover your plants with fine nets or insect filters. In very large applications, it may be necessary to resort to pesticides to get rid of problems caused by such insects.
The first two plant pest classes mentioned above are not commonly seen in hobby gardens and indoor cultivation. For this reason, we kindly request both industrial and hobby growers to pay attention to the microscopic plant pests, which are the third and fourth types of pests that we will discuss from this point on.
There are two ways to combat plant pests. The easy method is chemical spraying, but chemical pesticides are extremely harmful to bees, pets, humans, in short, nature. There are some natural pest prevention and removal methods that seem difficult but can be solved very easily when applied correctly. Natural methods are very diverse, as well as being in the form of organic pesticides or various garden materials.
Microscopic pests that are commonly seen in professional agricultural practices as well as in home and hobby cultivation are species such as red spider mite, thrips, whitefly and fungus gnat.
It should not be forgotten that the eggs or larvae of these tiny creatures can be found all over the world. Imagine leaving one dry and one wet tea bag on the kitchen counter. The wet tea bag will mold in a few days, but the dry tea bag will not. As a result of wetting the organic matter with water, mold spores in the environment colonized on the wet teapot bag and caused mold.
It is impossible to get rid of all mold spores, therefore, expecting to get rid of the eggs of microscopic plant pests is only possible with high-level sterilization in professional plant growing facilities.
